Sexual and Reproductive Health commissioning intentions consultation

Archived
Consultation on our commissioning intentions. We asked for feedback so we could identify and address problems or gaps in our plans.

Consultation overview

Local councils have a duty to provide integrated sexual health services (ISHS) for their local population. In Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) this includes free and confidential services, such as contraception, condom distribution, testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as chlamydia and gonorrhoea, HIV prevention and testing, and abortion care.

Our current services (Unity Sexual Health) have been in place since 2017 and are provided by University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Trust. We plan to commission new services from April 2025.

Why are we consulting?

We have already undertaken work to listen to and understand people’s experiences of current sexual and reproductive health services. This has helped us develop our plans for improved services for the future.

We are now undertaking this consultation to find out from the public and other partners whether they agree with our proposed plans. We want to hear from you so we can identify and address problems or gaps in our plans.

Find details of our current commissioning approach and our proposed model in our pdf draft BNSSG Sexual and Reproductive Health commissioning intentions document(571 KB) .
