Bristol Local Plan publication
Overview
The local plan has now progressed to the pre-submission publication stage. It is the version that the council proposes to submit to the Secretary of State for examination.
The role of this ‘publication version' document is to provide the opportunity for comments, which are known as 'representations', to be made before it is submitted to the Secretary of State.
The new local plan will:
- update all existing policies for deciding planning applications
- guide development across the city
Why did we ask for your views?
As part of the local plan review process, we are required to collect ‘representations’ on the new plan’s content. These need to relate to a specific policy or proposal in the plan.
The plan will then be submitted to the secretary of state along with the representations. These will be considered by the planning inspector who examines the local plan.
We've prepared a statement of consultation to accompany the publication versionof the new local plan.
It sets out how the council has responded to comments made at earlier stages ofconsultation and how they've informed the plan.
What is in the new local plan?
The new local plan covers many topics relating to new buildings and development across the city. It includes policies which set standards or requirements for new development and identifies areas where it would be suitable.
