Congratulations to St Ursulas EACT Academy on achieving the Essential Award!

Highlights of the schools work:

  • Focus on early intervention and regular check ins with at risk children.
  • Utilising data on behaviour and attendance when planning and implementing health and wellbeing strategies.
  • Ensuring that pupils ideas for school improvements regarding Health and Wellbeing are presented and discussed by school council.
  • Dedication to using trauma-informed approach in building more resilient school community that addresses conflict in a restorative way as opposed to punitive.
  • Implementing various active travel initiatives examples: Cycle training for pupils and/or staff taking part in Walk to School Week working with Active Travel Team to promote and support active travel for parents etc.

The school is most proud of:

Bikability courses enables children to feel safe and confident about cycling around the school community and to and from school with parents.

Emotional regulation for vulnerable pupils is very well supported with Emotional Zone of regulation board.

Amazing pastoral support and regular drop ins for Mental Support ELSA. Staff workload regularly reviewed.

As a result of working with the Bristol Healthy Schools Programme:

  • Children are much more active in playground as a result of improved activities.
  • High uptake of school lunches.
  • Huge positive change in regards to mental health and reduced anxiety - huge improvements in childrens behaviour.
  • Every child now has a water bottle and drinks regularly.
  • Staff more confident at addressing mental health with amazing support from SLT/ SENDCo and Healthy Schools Coordinator.
