Apply for a small society lottery licence, which is required by any non-commercial society organising a lottery where tickets are sold in advance.
A society is non-commercial if it's for sports, cultural activities, charitable causes or any other non-commercial purpose.

Apply for a non-commercial lottery
This is a called a small society lottery.
You must complete and return the document non-commercial society lottery registration form: small society(50 KB) .
Post the completed documents to:
Licensing Team, PO Box 3300, Bristol, BS1 9LN
You can also hand in the documents to the Citizen Service Point, 100 Temple Street, Bristol BS1 6AG.
Cost of non-commercial lottery licence
The fee is £40 and the licence lasts for one year.
You must include a cheque made payable to Bristol City Council.
After the lottery draw: return statement
Once the small society lottery has taken place complete and send back to us the document small society return statement(87 KB) .
This statement must be submitted no later than three months, beginning on the date on which the draw, or last draw, in the lottery took place.
Renew your non-commercial lottery licence
When your licence is close to expiring we'll send you a reminder with a renewal form.
If you want to renew your licence then complete and return the document renewal form(29 KB) to us. The renewal fee is £20.
