How we charge for a property we find to be unlicensed.
If we find an unlicensed rented property, we add an extra:
- £100 to the fee for an Additional and Selective Licence in the Bedminster, Brislington West or Horfield wards
- £140 to the fee for an Additional and Selective Licence elsewhere in the city
- £140 to the fee for a Mandatory Licence
This fee is to cover our investigation time.
No discounts are available if an unlicensed or “found” fee is due.
Failure to license an address
If you fail to license an address that isn't exempt we may:
- take prosecution proceedings which could result in an unlimited fine
- impose a financial penalty of up to £40,000
You could also:
- have the management of your unlicensed property taken away from you
- be ordered to repay up to 24 months' rent
