What a fire risk assessment is and how to find a fire risk assessment for a block of flats owned by the council.
We carry out fire risk assessments of all our blocks of flats.
They're carried out once a year for high rise blocks and sheltered schemes. For most other blocks it's every two years.
What a fire risk assessment is
A fire risk assessment is an inspection of the communal areas in a block of flats.
It does not include going inside individual homes, but your front door may be inspected as part of the assessment.
A fire risk assessment will:
-
identify potential fire hazards
-
identify who could be at risk and what needs to be done to reduce or remove that risk
- recommend actions to improve fire safety
Some improvements are carried out straight away. Others may be planned as part of a maintenance programme.
