Refer someone who smokes to our stop smoking service

You can refer someone to our free stop smoking service if they

  • currently smoke tobacco, including cigarettes, roll ups, pipes and shisha
  • are aged 12 and over
  • live or works in a Bristol postcode

You can check the person who smokes' postcode to make sure you are going to the right service.

SmokeFree Bristol cannot support people who are vaping only.

What to include in a referral

When referring someone to SmokeFree Bristol online, you’ll need to provide the following information:

  • name
  • date of birth
  • phone number
  • whether they’re pregnant
  • whether they need an interpreter, and in what language
  • their address, if they have one
  • email (optional)
  • ethnicity (optional)
  • gender (optional)
  • your referring organisation and email address (optional)

You’ll also be asked to confirm that you have their consent to refer them.

If you refer someone by email or phone, try to include the information above so SmokeFree Bristol can follow up the referral easily.

After you've made a referral

After the referral is made to SmokeFree Bristol, they will aim to get in touch with you, or the person you have referred, within 3 working days.

You or the person you've referred will be contacted for a quick friendly chat and asked for some basic information, and then the first phone appointment with an advisor will be arranged.

Feedback for professionals

If you're a professional referring someone that you work with, then there are ways that we can keep you up to date with their quit journey. You will need the correct consent from the person who smokes.
