Houses of Multiple Occupancy (HMOs): additional and mandatory licences
If you rent out rooms in a licensed house of multiple occupation (additional or mandatory), the property must meet the required health, safety and welfare standards and conditions for tenants.
Standards for HMO properties
The Bristol City Council HMO licensing standards are split into two separate documents:

If your room doesn't meet these standards, you still need to submit an application. We'll inspect the property and measure the rooms to check compliance and decide on the most appropriate course of action.
