The Bristol-Hannover Council (BHC) is the twinning association which helps manage a range of initiatives between the two cities.

The Bristol-Hannover Council (BHC) was founded in 1947 as one of the earliest city links with Germany and helps manage a range of initiatives between the two cities.

The BHC has its own registered charity (No. 279212). It works closely with its partner, the Hannover-Bristol Gesellschaft.

Did you know ...

  • The BHC is engaged in regular exchanges with Hannover of gymnasts, rowers, badminton players, choirs and artists, as well as alternating citizens' exchanges between the two cities every year
  • The BHC has supported an Erasmus-funded project on Youth Democracy between the young people of Bristol and Hannover, as well as studio and street art exchanges
  • The BHC organises regular social events, such as the annual Christmas Market lunch and the Rosenmontag party, talks on widely differing subjects such as German art or the history of Hannover 96, Hannover's football club!
