Bristol's first community-run swimming pool and gym
Originally built in the 1930s, Jubilee Pool faced closure in 2022 due to the significant investment required to keep the building open and operational.
Thanks to a passionate campaign by pool users and the local community, plans changed. We invited expressions of interest from community-based organisations to preserve or repurpose this much-loved facility, followed by a detailed selection process.
We completed a successful Community Asset Transfer (CAT) lease with Friends of Jubilee Pool (Bristol) Ltd, a charitable organisation committed to keeping the pool open and thriving.
Under a 35-year lease, they now manage the pool, working closely with local supporters and volunteers to deliver ambitious plans for improvement and development.
A seamless handover took place in September 2022, ensuring the pool remained open without interruption. Today, under community management, Jubilee Pool is once again a hive of activity, helping generations of Bristolians swim, stay active, and enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
