A new community hub for Horfield

The brand‑new St Peter's Community Centre opened its doors in May 2025.

It forms part of the wider St Peter's development and was delivered through our Community Asset Transfer (CAT) programme, which enables community organisations to manage public buildings for local benefit. The centre provides a welcoming, purpose‑built space for residents in Manor Farm, Horfield.

How we got here

Following a public call for expressions of interest, we ran a competitive CAT process to identify a suitable community operator. The centre was constructed alongside new council homes and a children's home, with sustainability features incorporated across the wider scheme.

What the centre offers

St Peter's Community Centre is a modern, flexible, multi‑use space with a hall and rooms for hire, plus a programme of activities shaped around local needs.

It's designed to host a wide range of community‑based activities, including:

  • coffee mornings and cultural events
  • wellbeing sessions and fitness groups
  • learning, training and employment support
  • youth, family and intergenerational programmes
  • space for local clubs, networks and hobby groups

Community‑led management

The centre is now under community management, with the local operator developing programmes, courses and events.
