What cycle hangars are, when they'll be available and their locations.

Cycle hangars offer fixed on-street, secure cycle parking for up to six bikes which can only be accessed by lock and key or on an app in some locations.

They're about the size of one parking space and are for an area's local residents.

We're working to install 40 cycling hangars across Bristol.

The cycle hangars project is being funded by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority using Active Travel England funding as part of a wider programme to install 80 cycle hangars across the West of England.

When they'll be installed

The cycle hangars will be installed during the first two weeks in February 2025.

In preparation for this, we will be installing bollards either end of the cycle hangars to provide a greater level of protection once they are in use.

It should take a day to install the bollards at one location and a further day to install the cycle hangar at the same location. This will be done on separate visits and we will keep disruption to a minimum.

How to get a space

Once the cycle hangars, also called Bike Nests, have been installed, they will be managed by Lockit Safe.

To request a space in one of the cycle hangars once they have been installed, visit the Bike Nest and enter your postcode in the search bar.

In the meantime, you can register your interest by emailing bikenestservices@lockit-safe.co.uk or phoning the Bike Nest team on 01472 346382.

How much will it cost

One space in a cycle hangar is £55 a year plus a £25 refundable key deposit.
