A free four-week course to help you prepare for the birth of a baby.
The course will help you:
- prepare for the birth experience and the early days after having your baby
- get to know your baby and how to give them the care and comfort they need
- understand more about feeding your baby and the support available
- meet other new parents in your local area
- explore where you can get support for your family's wellbeing, relationships, and fun activities to support your baby's development
The groups are jointly run by midwives, health visitors, children's centre staff and the Bristol infant feeding team.
Courses are run from locations across Bristol so you can attend the course in a place convenient to you.
Parents can attend the sessions from 26 weeks of pregnancy.
Course content
Week 1
Learn about the stages of labour, post-birth and what to expect when you take your baby home.
Week 2
Understand your baby's needs, their emotional cues and how to look after your mental wellbeing post-birth.
Week 3
Learn about your baby's development journey and the support available to you as a new parent in Bristol.
Week 4
Learn about the different feeding choices, how to understand your baby's feeding cues and the support to help you with your feeding journey.
