What the Property Safety Strategy is, what it will include and how you can have your say
We're developing a new Property Safety Strategy that will explain how we'll keep council homes safe. It will also cover how we ensure a well-maintained living environment for our residents.
As a landlord, we have legal responsibilities to make sure our homes are safe. This new strategy will bring all those rules together in one place, so you can easily tell how we're meeting them.
The strategy will cover areas including:
- fire safety
- how we ensure building structures and sound and secure
- how we address issues and hazards in homes
- how we ensure that buildings comply with all relevant safety regulations
What the strategy will include
We're discussing the proposed goals and key actions from April 2025 to March 2030. This includes outcomes, goals, and actions for how we'll:
- manage our properties and services, so they are safe homes for all our tenants and leasholders
- make sure buildings are safe, reduce fire risk, and that residents can escape safetly in event of a fire
- manage information to make sure that our tenants' and leaseholders' homes are safe
- focus on assuring that our tenants' and leaseholders' homes are safe
Have your say
We're holding drop-in sessions for council tenants and leaseholders to find out more about the new strategy, ask questions and share their views.
You do not need to book to attend these events.
