Bristol local authority works in partnership with North Somerset and South Gloucestershire local authorities to produce and manage a framework of approved Aternative Learning Provisions (ALPs).

These ALPs have gone through an application process and have supplied information and answered questions about various aspects of their service.

ALPs have to pass questions on safeguarding, engagement, curriculum, transition, partnership working, business continuity, social value and equalities.

We have 3 application rounds per year and continue adding newly approved ALPs to the framework.

If you're sourcing an ALP to work with a child it will be important to use the filter to ensure you only search for ALPs which work with children in the relevant key stage.

Some ALPs have a minimum or maximum age requirement. For example, some ALPs may only work with children in key stage 3 and above.

ALPs have different specialisms; some might offer mentoring, others may focus on vocational learning.

Some are tutoring only. There are ALPs that only do online tutoring and those that only do in-person tutoring, and some which offer a hybrid.

The ALP finder gives a broad overview of what the ALP offers, but more information can be found by clicking on the link to their website.
