We're reviewing current entitlements to the single person discount on council tax.

What is happening

If you get the single person discount on your council tax bill, you may have received a letter about reviewing your entitlement to it.

We need to review council tax discounts because sometimes we are not told about a change in people's circumstances.

This review is being managed by NEC Software Solutions. They work with other local authorities to help with things such as council tax, Housing Benefit and council housing.

To find out more contact them using the details in your letter or visit the NEC website.

What you need to do

The single person discount review is closed.

If you did not reply to your letter or reminder in time, you may have received a new letter to tell you that your single person discount has been removed from your council tax account.

If you disagree with the decision to remove your discount, you should call us on 0117 227 0002 and select option 2. You must do this within 7 days of receiving your letter.

Declarations made through option 1 will not be accepted.

You are also unable to use the online portal to ask for your discount to be reinstated.
