What is SignVideo

SignVideo is an online interpreting service. Deaf BSL users can use it to call council services for free. It's available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

SignVideo is also available at our Citizen Service Point at 100 Temple Street, Bristol, BS1 9NE.

Connect to a BSL interpreter

How SignVideo works

You'll need:

  • a computer, smartphone, or tablet with a webcam
  • access to the internet

To use SignVideo:

  1. Click on the blue Connect to a BSL interpreter' button to make a call from your browser. Make sure your camera is on.
  2. You'll be connected to a registered BSL interpreter. They'll confirm you're calling Bristol City Council and will start the conversation in BSL.
  3. The BSL interpreter will interpret between you and a council staff member.

What you need in order to use SignVideo

  • Safari

You'll need a computer, smartphone or tablet with one of the following operating systems:

  • iOS: 11 or above
