You can pay in many ways, including online, by phone, by post, in person or by bank transfer.


Paying online is easy and secure.  We accept all major credit and debit cards.

Make a payment online

You'll need your Account Reference number.

Your Account Reference number is 8 digits long and will begin with the number 3.

By phone

Pay by phone using our 24 hour automated payment line 0117 903 6402.  The call will cost you 2 pence per minute plus any charges from your phone company.

You'll need:

  • your Account Reference number
  • a debit or credit card to pay

BACs transfer or online banking

Use your Account Reference number as your payment reference.


Send a cheque made payable to Bristol City Council.  Write your Account Reference number, name and address on the back of the cheque.

In person

Citizen Service Point:  You can pay by cash, cheque or debit/credit card at our Citizen Service Point. Take your Account Reference number with you.

At the Post Office: You can pay by cash or card but will need a PayPoint card.

PayPoint:  You will need to request a PayPoint card.  PayPoint Go to (opens new window) outlets only accept cash.
