Which roads are closed in the Old City, vehicle access for loading and deliveries and parking for blue badge holders.
Parts of the Old City have been pedestrianised by closing the roads to traffic for specific parts of the day. This is to create an area that's safe and accessible for pedestrians and cyclists.
Closed roads
Except for loading and deliveries between 5am and 11am, Monday to Saturday, these roads in the Old City will be closed to vehicles every day:
- Clare Street
- Corn Street
- Marsh Street
- Small Street
- St Stephens Avenue
- St Stephens Street
Except for loading and deliveries between midnight and 11am, Monday to Saturday, these roads will be closed to vehicles very day:
- Broad Street, from Newmarket Avenue to Bell Lane
- Bell Lane
- John Street (off Broad Street)
This part of Broad Street and Bell Lane has been made one way except for bicycles.
Enter the Old City pedestrianised area by vehicle
Entry barriers to the Old City are on:
- Broad Street, just northwest of the Newmarket Avenue junction
- St Stephens Street off Baldwin Street
- St Stephens Street off Colston Avenue
Outside of the opening times for loading and deliveries, the barriers will be closed.
Entry outside of these hours will only be allowed to authorised vehicles via an automatic number plate recognition system.
Get vehicle access
If you need access outside of the opening times, you need to give us at least 5 working days' notice in advance.
To ask for vehicle access to the Old City, email parking.businessteam@bristol.gov.uk
For emergency access there's a contact phone number displayed on the signs at all entry points.

Disabled and blue badge parking
With a blue badge you can park on double yellow lines for up to 3 hours, between 5am and 11am, when the barriers are open.

- not block roads or pavements
Disabled parking bays are available on:

- High Street
Motorcycles
Motorcycles are not allowed in the Old City area, except between:
