How to appeal a premises licence or club premises certificate.

You can only appeal a decision on an application you’ve previously commented on.

You can appeal against decisions about:

  • the granting of a licence
  • conditions put on the licence
  • variation of the licence
  • licensable activity, for example the hours granted or a particular activity
  • the refusal of a licence

You'll need to write to Bristol Magistrates' Court to appeal the decision within 21 days of getting the notice of decision.  

There’s a fee to appeal. This is payable to the court.

Appeal against decisions on your own premises licence or provisional statement application

You can appeal a decision to:

  • refuse all or part of your licence application
  • reject a variation application
  • reject a transfer application
  • exclude an activity 
  • exclude a person as a premises supervisor
  • put conditions on your licence

You'll need to write to Bristol Magistrates' Court to appeal the decision within 21 days of getting the notice of decision.
