Temporary suspension of collections
Our clinical household waste collection service has stopped from Friday 6 December 2024 to 20 January 2025.

Our collection service is free and confidential.

Sharps

You can arrange a sharps collection or an exchange when your box is nearly full.

Sharps are collected separately from other clinical waste. We collect them from sealed yellow topped containers which we'll provide free of charge.
We can also collect a pink box, but we can't provide a replacement box for that. This will need to be prescribed by your GP.

We can arrange to collect sharps from any convenient location to you or can knock on your door if you prefer.

If you require any other type of sharps box these will need to be prescribed by your GP.

Other clinical waste

Regular collections

We collect infectious waste from your garden or at the front of your property. Collections start at 7am.

Incontinence pads should go in your general waste.

You should:

  • keep the waste separate from your normal bins and recycling
  • put the waste in an orange sack
  • not overfill the orange sack
  • tie the orange sack securely
  • use a second bag if waste is wet and heavy

Arrange an infectious waste collection

To arrange regular collections for other clinical waste, speak to your healthcare professional. Let your healthcare professional know where you'd like this picked up from.

Call us to cancel a regular collection.

Home birth collections

For home birth waste collections the midwife must call us directly.

The collection will be made within 2 working days from booking.

Occasional collections

You may want a one-off collection such as for visitors.

Call us to arrange this.
