Tell us about a property that you think should have a licence, but doesn't.
Some properties need to have a licence before the landlord can rent them out. For example, if the property is:
- a House of Multiple Occupation(HMO) Go to https://www.gov.uk/private-renting/houses-in-multiple-occupation (opens new window) (GOV.UK) anywhere in the city, with more than 5 occupants
- a smaller HMO in the central Bristol area and in the Horfield ward: map showing licence areas for smaller HMOs (area marked in blue) Go to https://maps.bristol.gov.uk/pinpoint/?service=localinfo&maptype=js&layer=Discretionary+licensing&sidebar=false&mapopts=none&extent=9000# (opens new window)
- any rented property in the wards of Bedminster and Brislington West: map showing selective and additional licensing areas (areas marked in pink)
This is to make sure the property meets required standards of health, safety and welfare for the people living there.
You can check if a property has a licence on the register of licensed properties.
If you think a property should have a licence but doesn't, report it to us. You can do this anonymously.
